Recently I have been searching for more ‘high street’ brands. I came across Catrice in my local supermarket and thought I would give it a go.
I came out with the Nude Illusion Foundation is the shade 010 Nude Ivory. After doing some research I had some pretty high expectations, but part of me was very apprehensive because it was so cheap!
After doing the research I was expecting a lightweight mattifying coverage, healthy glow and a flawless and natural finish. To be honest some of this didn’t really make sense, how can you have a matt finish but still have a healthy glow? Anyway, I went ahead a tried it.
Before I show you the pictures I wanted to explain that I applied Benefit Professional primer to the right side of my face, leaving the left natural, this way we can see if the application is better, also if the primer helps the longevity.
The before shot….
Yes , yes my skin is awful, most of this is due to bad diet and lack of sleep! I am happy to tell you it has improved since!!
This is the first layer applied….
I forgot to mention that I applied the foundation using the Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge. But as you can see it has covered most of my redness and really helped to fade the appearance of my under eye circle.
I wanted to see how far we could go, so I applied another layer..
So after the second layer I decided that was more than enough, otherwise it was going to look far too cakey! This second layer just helped to cover up any of the redness that the first layer had missed. It looks pretty yellow in these pictures but I can assure you that’s not the case in daylight, having said that it does have a slight yellow undertone but nothing like the picture is having you believe!!
If I’m honest I didn’t notice a difference in application between the primed side and the side that was primer free. The foundation itself sets very quickly and almost has a velvet feeling.
The formula itself was pretty thin but didn’t seem to run off the back of my hand! This foundation was easily blended with the sponge and lasted a good amount of time.
As you can see it has a light to medium coverage but is buildable, I would say to avoid if you struggle with dry skin because the formula will probably stick to any patches of dry skin and make them stand out and let’s be honest, nobody wants that!
Here is a picture of the finished look once all my make up was applied, I always think you can get a better idea on how it looks once everything is done. I really liked it and it lasted a long time, the one thing I will say is that on me there wasn’t a luminous finish to my skin at all, jut completely matte. It didn’t notice the primer make a difference to the longevity either, all in all a great foundation at a great price. I will definitely be trying more from Catrice!!
This foundation is available in 5 different shades,
